Dentures at Claros Dentistry

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth that are custom-made to restore the appearance, function, and comfort of your smile. Modern dentures are designed to look natural and fit comfortably while improving your ability to speak, eat, and smile with confidence.

There are two main types of dentures:

  • Complete Dentures – Replace all missing teeth in the upper arch, lower arch, or both.

  • Partial Dentures – Replace one or several missing teeth while fitting around your remaining natural teeth.

Our team at Claros Dentistry creates personalized dentures designed to match your facial features and natural smile as closely as possible.

Conventional vs. Immediate Dentures

Conventional Dentures

Conventional dentures are made after the remaining teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has fully healed. Healing usually takes several weeks, which means patients may be without teeth temporarily during the healing process.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are prepared before tooth extraction and placed immediately after the teeth are removed. This allows patients to leave the office with teeth the same day. Because the gums and bone naturally change shape during healing, adjustments or relining may be needed afterward to ensure the best fit.

How Long Do Dentures Last?

Dentures are durable and can last for many years with proper care. Over time, normal changes in the mouth may require adjustments to maintain comfort and fit.

Common denture maintenance procedures include:

  • Denture Relining – Reshaping the inner surface of the denture to improve the fit as the gums change over time.

  • Denture Rebasing – Replacing the denture base while keeping the existing artificial teeth.

Regular dental visits help ensure your dentures continue to fit comfortably and function properly.

The Denture Process

At Claros Dentistry, the denture process begins with a comprehensive consultation and examination. During your visit, our dentist will take detailed impressions and measurements of your mouth to create dentures customized specifically for you.

Your dentures are then carefully crafted by a dental laboratory and adjusted during fitting appointments to ensure optimal comfort, appearance, and function. Multiple fitting visits may be needed to achieve the best possible result.

Caring for Your Dentures

Proper denture care is essential for maintaining oral health and extending the life of your dentures. We recommend:

  • Cleaning dentures daily with a soft brush and non-abrasive denture cleanser

  • Soaking dentures in a denture-cleaning solution when not in use

  • Handling dentures carefully to avoid damage

  • Keeping regular dental appointments for adjustments and oral health evaluations

Our dental team may also recommend denture adhesives to improve comfort and stability when needed.
